Plant, Equipment and Engine Breakdown Extended Warranty

Introduction

Equipment owners often feel they need more protection because of severe conditions on the job, or to minimise unpredictable repair costs.

To meet these demands CNC Asset have developed an Extended Warranty for Plant and Equipment and Engines covering power train and hydraulics. This warranty is available for Manufacturers and Dealers on a case by case basis for their end users or on a Warranty Partnership basis, see Warranty Services Partnerships.

For new machinery, the warranty can be extended to 60 months and a total of 10,000 hours from the date of commissioning. Second user warranty is immediately available on plant up to 48 months and 8,000 hours old, for any older plant more detailed information will be required.

This warranty product is mainly sold through dealers and manufacturers.

Breakdowns caused by mechanical failure

If your customer's power train or hydraulics breaks due to electrical or mechanical breakdown, the warranty will pay for the repair of the plant. Examples are breakdown of the CRT system, the ring gear assembly or hammer components. A complete list of the parts covered can be seen below.

What the warranty pays for

If the customer's plant breaks down, we pay for the reasonable costs to put it back in working order. This means the costs of labour, parts and travel, including any overnight stay required spent by you to repair the machine. We will pay for the cost of diagnosis providing it is not speculative. We will pay for the costs of replacement oils and fluids. Should it be necessary to return the plant to base, that cost is covered under the warranty. We pay for the expediting costs to ship parts from overseas if this is the only way to repair your customer's machine.

What is the limit of protection

There is no limit to the number of payments that can be made save that the total amount that can be recovered over the life of the warranty cannot under any circumstances exceed 50% of the invoice price for new machines and 50% of the market value at the time of resale for second user machines. In the event the warranty is taken out after the machine has been purchased, the market value for warranty purposes will be the value at that date.

In addition, for new equipment no single breakdown payment under the warranty under any circumstances can exceed 25% of the invoice value and for second user equipment, 25% of the market value at the time of resale.

How long can we provide the warranty for?

New equipment warranties are up to 36 months and 6,000 hours and in certain cases for large plant and certain applications up to 60 months and 10,000 hours from the date of commissioning.

Second user warranty is immediately available on most plant up to 48 months and 8,000 hours old, for any older plant more detailed information may be required.

In the event of a total loss

An item of machinery will be considered a total loss if the cost of repair exceeds the market value at the time of the breakdown. We will pay the market value at the time of the breakdown and any cost of dismantling the damaged machinery less any salvaged parts up to the limit of protection.

No bills to pay

The warranty is often available without an excess in which case there are no bills to pay and no costs to recover from your customer.

Cancelling the warranty

The warranty provider cannot cancel the warranty.

If you are selling the machine or ceasing to trade, then you can cancel the warranty and obtain a pro rata refund or sell the machine with the warranty included. In either case the warranty must be claim free. Otherwise you cannot cancel the warranty. If the cost of the warranty is being financed, you should discuss the repayment with the finance company.

Transfer of warranty

The warranty can be transferred to the new owners automatically if the extended warranty is claims free.

Choice of repairer

You may choose the repairer you use, provided he is a recognised repairer and qualified to repair your machinery. Or, you may ask us to provide a repairer from our panel.

What is not included.

Any electrical breakdowns
For new plant, any mechanical breakdowns during the manufacturers warranty period.
For used plant, any breakdown within the first 14 days.
Any mechanical breakdowns which are gradual in nature and therefore not sudden and unforeseen.
Any loss caused by fire or theft or storm.
Non wearing parts that are part of the machine's structure. For example, ground engaging gear and the boom.
Any accessory being used with the machine which was not originally supplied with the machine and a payment being made for it. For example, an automatic greaser.
Any breakdowns on plant which has not been serviced and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Payment may be in full or spread over the life of the warranty by using the payment plan. This plan is at 0% interest for up to 5 years and is subject to status.
